Former Director of Department of State Services (DSS), Mr Dennis Amachree has spoken in support of the agency, saying that the NLC president is not above the law.

The former secret police officer noted that Joe Ajaero must have been found wanting before he could be arrested.

His words: “The Nigerian public need to know that the DSS does not just go around arresting people. As the foremost agency responsible for internal security, Joe Ajaero, the NLC president may have come under their radar and need to clear some issues.

“If he was invited and failed to report at their office, but found at the International Airport, attempting to travel, then the agency has no other choice than to take him into custody. If the NIA is also involved, then the public will hear about details later.

“We however need to watch the language when reporting such sensitive cases. Ajaero couldn’t have been abducted or kidnapped and in such cases and circumstances, a warrant of arrest is not necessary.

“The NLC president is an important Nigerian, but he is in no way above the laws of this country. Let us therefore be guided.”
