The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has refused to release the former governor of Kwara State, Dr. Abdulfattah Ahmed, invited on Monday over some financial complicity while in office between 2011-2019.
As at the time of filing this report yesterday, Ahmed was still being held in the Custody of the Ilorin zonal Command of the EFCC.
A source hinted that the former governor was being queried by the anti-graft agency on a N10 billion projects executed during his tenure.
The Guardian reported that he presented himself to the agency at about 9:00a.m. on Monday and had remained in the office as at 8:00p.m. yesterday.
Asked about the projects which the ex-governor was being grilled on, the source who did not want his name in print said that he didn’t know the projects that he was invited to clarify at the office but “what I can tell you is that Ex-governor Ahmed is still with the EFCC and has not been released.”
However, the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the former governor, Alhaji Abdulwahab Oba did not respond to telephone calls when contacted.
Meanwhile, there is a rumour that Ahmed would be arraigned at the Kwara State High Court next Tuesday.
