Expert makes case for gender parity
A legal luminary and Professor of Law, Mrs. Nkolika Aniekwu, has urged individuals, corporate organisations, multinational groups and agencies to step up concrete actions in a bid to accelerate gender parity, insisting that the world over, there had been enhancement on the need to acknowledge areas of gender equity, equality and parity.
Aniekwu, who is of the Department of Public Law, University of Benin, Edo State, made the appeal while presenting a lecture as part of activities rounding off this year’s International Women Day celebration organised by Lift Above Poverty Organisation (LAPO in Benin City, Edo State.
Speaking on the theme: “Pledge for Parity,” the university don said it was noteworthy that world leaders were significantly leading actions to influence outcomes of women and girls in the areas of gender relations, adding that many of them had also pledged support for accelerated women’s empowerment in all spheres of life.
