Nutrition experts and Yoga practitioners have advised Nigerians to eat right and exercise regularly to strengthen connection between the body, soul and mind.

According to them, cultivating deeper relationship between the three components of the human body will go a long way in overcoming extreme life habits such as depression and suicide, which are classified as anti-social behavior in modern time.

Founder of KWEIGH, Khushbu Thadani explained that people needs to maintain healthy living through acts that comprise variety foods, regular intake of water and sleeping right.

Others are stress management, physical activity and regular social relationships with friends and families.

She spoke at a wellness workshop organised by Yoga Sutra, a fitness studio in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Addressing the participants who were mostly women, she urged people to pay more attention to their body as a means of improving their mindset and helping them to live long.

“Often times, when things aren’t going our ways, we try to fix it from the outside, not realising that everything happening around us is a reflection of our inner being. By strengthening the connection between our mind and the soul, we will start to increase the quality of our life,” she said

Thadani, who is also a life coach, stressed that a lot of times, people think of wellness as being free from illness, while ultimately it’s about creating synergy between the various dimensions of human components and empowering the body, soul and mind to function maximally.

She said: “Our actions are driven by our thoughts and beliefs. When people are committing suicide, it is because they are mentally fearful and pretty anxious and so looking for some kind of escape.”

She stressed the need for individuals to understand the connection between body soul and mind, and how to achieve happiness in life because knowledge and its applications is a potential power.

In an interview with the The Guardian, the convener/owner, style story Yoga Sutra, Lagos, Suchita Vaswani said the world is moving toward awareness industry, hence the significance of making some lifestyle changes to improve the quality of life.
