ExxonMobil, Youth Empowerment and Development Initiative (YEDI), Grass Root Soccer, and Oshodi-Isolo Local Government have emphasised the need for continuous sensitisation of the public and adherence to safety measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Lagos.

The groups urged the government not to relent in its efforts to ensure that protective measures are adhered to by the people, as coronavirus is still active in the state.

The groups made the remark at a skills intervention and distribution of COVID-19 relief support for Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area targeted at 1,000 residents.

Speaking at the outreach, Yedi Executive Director, Oje Ivagba, stated that with the daily announcement of new COVID-19 cases, Nigeria is not totally free from the virus and efforts must be geared towards eradicating it.

He said: “With the help of our sponsors, we are here to provide COVID-19 prevention support to the community to ensure efforts at curbing the virus are sustained. We are providing PPEs to community members and give food donations to them. There is a possibility that people assume that coronavirus is gone and therefore are throwing caution to the wind. We also recognise the fact that the pandemic has caused a lot of problems for people in local communities. We had to be responsive to their needs.”

Also speaking, Matron, Oshodi-Isolo LGA, Dr Bolaji Fehintola, stated the need for all hands to be on deck to ensure that safety measures are intensified among the people.
