Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has said that President Mohammadu Buhari must start the corruption fight from his party and immediate aides since charity begins at home.

‘Buhari must start anti-graft fight with his party, aides’

Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has said that President Mohammadu Buhari must start the corruption fight from his party and immediate aides since charity begins at home.

The governor said: “ The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) opinions remain their opinions and if they are so sure of whatever information they have, they should go to court and stop subjecting Nigerians to media trial. No amount of media trial from the same elements that orchestrated my removal in 2006 can erode my popularity among Ekiti people.”

Fayose said any property that may be linked to him or his company was bought legitimately and his properties were duly declared in his assets declaration form and sources of such funds were not illicit.

In a statement issued yesterday by his Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Fayose maintained that his election was funded by Zenith Bank as well as donations from friends and associates. “As a promising candidate of my party, I cannot stop Nigerians from supporting my election like every other candidates of other political, including President Buhari.”

He said since the money he got for his election was from legitimate sources and not from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) as being concocted, how the money was spent remained his own business and not that of anyone.

The governor also debunked the reported allegation by the EFCC that he received bribe from any contractor in Ekiti, saying “if they have anything against me, they should keep their gun powder dry.”

He said “having failed to buy the conscience of Ekiti House of Assembly members, the APC people have become increasingly afraid of 2018 and that the agencies of the Federal Government should know that no matter how hard they try, Ekiti electorate will not be deceived by their blackmail and media trial.

“The EFCC should be told in clear terms that this is 2016 and not 2006 when impeachment notices against governors were signed on the table of EFCC operatives. Those who are teleguiding the EFCC now should also be reminded that they did more than what they are doing now in 2006, yet I was overwhelmingly voted for by the Ekiti people, eight years after the orchestrated impeachment which the Supreme Court declared illegal.”

Mr. Fayose, you were not overwhelmingly voted for by the people of Ekiti, you rigged the election. The recorded meeting of how you did it is all over the news media. Stop deceiving yourself that you were overwhelmingly for voted for by Ekiti people. You are right that this is 2016 and not 2006, that is why your accounts are being frozen while details of your lie is being exposed, you lied that your election was funded by Zenith Bank, you lied that you did not receive any money from Obanikoro. Can you remember that in the meeting where you planned how to rig the election, you were so infuriated that at a point you wanted to leave when you said the army officer was not doing a good job? At that meeting you said the army should pick up all APC local government chairmen and locked them up, and that any vehicle not having a tag that you made should not be allowed to enter the state capital-Ado-Ekiti. It was your script that the army and police acted that brought your “so called” victory at the election. You have been making noise in order to cover up all your misdeeds. Your greatest mistake so far, is going to the court while claiming immunity, remember the saying, “HE WHO COMES TO EQUITY MUST COME WITH CLEAN HANDS” .

I am from Ekiti and i know his people love and voted him in. He is not a perfect man but he is relatively better than some of his counterparts in neighbouring states. The tape you were talking about wasn’t majorly about election rigging. It was to stop APC big wigs from invading the state, hence the Amaechis, Tinubus were denied access to the state. People voted and waited for their votes to be counted and APC won in the majority of votes counted and declared at the polling units.

I guess you are from Ekiti and believed that Fayose is the people’s governor and won the election fair and square, right? If that is your stand, why did he needed the army to do his biding before the election? Did you believe that this people governor is corrupt? This is his second time to be charged for the same offence of misappropriation of funds. He must be one unlucky person or a kleptomania. Where is it written in Nigeria constitution to restrict the sitting state governor and Nigerian citizens from moving around any state, election or not? If that is not rigging for you, what else is rigging? You are supporting illegality and it is okay with you, right? It was okay that Fayose could use PDP to destabilize Ekiti then and now that his past is catching up with him, it is APC script? The state workers are not paid for months and it is okay for your governor to spend state money to purchase private houses? In civilized climate, Fayose will be in court answering questions on how he could be richer than the state in less than two years in office. If his business was so vibrant and booming, why neglecting it to be paid peanut as governor? And if you don’t believed he rigged the election, the APC must be making up the voice tape, NSA slush money, and those involved in Ekitigate running out of the country? He keep saying that he won his case up to the SC – the same SC court that freed Bode George after he served his sentence and the killer of Kudirat Abiola, all PDP members courtesy of GEJ? Please give it a rest, You don’t have to be an APC member not like Fayose and his diatribes as some of his family and PDP members don’t. How many of his friends donated the billions of Naira for his campaign – let him named them and what was donated so that we could all move on. Shouldn’t the money not spent during the campaign be returned to PDP account? Is it legal for him use it to purchase personal houses? I wouldn’t be surprise if that is what he did, after all, pastors convert church money to personal account.

Why would you stop people from coming to campaign to support their own candidate, is that democracy? You my love him, if he truly wanted to test his popularity has he claimed he should have allowed fair play in campaign, not picking people up for detention in order silence them. We don’t need to be deceived by being sentiment.

I laugh hard at u people. You think he rigged the election? Wait till 2018. If PDP rigged any election, certainly not Ekiti. I lived in Ondo State for over a decade, you can’t compare this man’s popularity to any oda among his people. Call him Thug, his pple love him, forget d heinous tape that suddenly became issue after Supreme Court judgement

Do not mind him. He understood n”overwhelmingly voted for” to mean hundred percent vote cast for Fayose.

If his popularity was anything to go by, why using the army to pick people up for detention and barred them from campaigning? if he was so confident in himself he shouldn’t have gone to that extent.

U mean APC didn’t campaign in Ekiti? On what platform did u get that info sire? Do u mean the denial of the likes of Oshiomole, and other APC lords into Ekiti on the eve of the election, hoping to buy voters? Or when did campaigns end? For what purpose was their invasion? Were de to vote or get voters for Fayemi on that eve? Do you mean because they were denied to enter Ekiti on the eve Fayemi lost? Common… If u happen to reside whthin the South West, u’re just playing cheap pranks here cos u definitely know what I’m talking about. I’m not saying he’s the best man for that state, but the people dea just love d man.

It is only a fool that does not know or that will not believe it. It is an already established fact.
