Fayose installs new monarch in Isan-Ekiti
Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has presented the Staff of Office to the new Onisan of Isan-Ekiti, Oba Adejuwon Gabriel Ayodele.
This followed his selection by the six kingmakers to fill the vacant stool in the community.
Fayose promised not to interfere in traditional affairs, stating that he had no dispute to settle with anybody in that regard.
His Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, said in a statement that the governor would never play politics with traditional matters or deny any group its rights.
He said: “Since God made me the leader of the state at this period, I must be fair to all in the handling of state matters. The fact that Isan-Ekiti is the hometown of former Governor Kayode Fayemi does not mean that the right thing would not be done.
“The next ruling house to produce the monarch came with their list of candidates and the six kingmakers voted for one aspirant. Politics should not get to the level of meddling in traditional matters like the selection of monarchs. Anybody who does that would have unpleasant consequences to contend with.”
Fayose urged Oba Ayodele to extend a hand of fellowship to the other contestants and appealed to the people to support him for the growth of the community.
