Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Muhammad Musa Bello, has urged Nigerian students to support President Muhammadu Buhari in the forthcoming elections.

He said voting for Buhari would ensure the full execution of planned emergency policy in the education sector.

Bello made the appeal when leaders of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), FCT Chapter, paid him an advocacy visit in his office in Abuja.

In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary, Cosmas Uzodinma yesterday in Abuja, he disclosed that the Buhari-led administration has laid a solid foundation that would take education out of the woods.

According to him: “It is imperative for students to support President Buhari in the forthcoming elections to ensure that his agenda for education is not derailed. Students are part of the main group that would benefit when these programmes and policies are eventually realised.”

He said the impending emergency declaration in the sector would give further impetus to the gains already made.

He said: “We will continue to count on your support because at the end of the day, what the president is doing includes building a foundation for a better tomorrow. Those who will benefit in this greater tomorrow project are basically NANS’ members.”

He explained that building a foundation is the most difficult task in any construction work.

He likened Nigeria to a massive building, in terms of size and population, which requires time and resources to accomplish.

The minister stressed that the country needs the support of students, who are the primary stakeholders that the country is proud to associate with.

Chairman of the NANS, Mojeed Kola Omolaja, commended the minister for the giant strides recorded in the FCT education sector, citing the infrastructure at the Federal University of Science and Technology, Abaji.
