The FCT Police Command has successfully rescued a five-year-old girl, Miracle Yakubu, and arrested a 46-year-old male suspect, Nawaisi Abdullahi.

The suspected was arrested on Sunday at about 10:00 am when police operatives, in collaboration with local vigilantes, swiftly responded to a distress call involving a man who was seen walking with a little girl along the Mobil Filling Station by Jabi Expressway towards an unknown destination.

The Police Public Relations Officer for the command, SP Joseph Adeh, said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect had taken the child without the consent of her mother, a local vendor selling bean cakes (Akara) in Utako Village.

She said upon intervention, the police immediately took custody of the suspect and ensured the safe return of the child to her family.

Adeh said the suspect is currently in police custody as further investigations are ongoing to ascertain the full circumstances of the incident.
