FCTA, Shippers Council partner on $150m dry port, truck transit terminal

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and the Nigeria Shippers Council are partnering to establish a dry port and truck transit terminal valued at over $150 million.

Both parties said the partnership is a response to the city’s role as a federal capital territory and its rising profile as a viable commercial hub.

The partnership is the outcome of a working visit by the Executive Secretary of the Shippers Council, Hassan Bello and his management team to the FCT Minister, Muhammad Musa Bello in Abuja.

This was made known in a statement issued yesterday by Chief Press Secretary to the FCT Minister, Cosmas Uzodinma.

Speaking on the development, the minister said the Abuja Master Plan envisaged a dry port and truck transit terminal in the FCT, noting that the current development in Nigeria’ administrative city indicates that Abuja is ripe for such infrastructure that befits a mega city.

He announced that a joint team would be constituted to work out modalities for the implementation of the projects.

Responding, the Nigeria Shippers boss said the council was established for the development of infrastructure on marine, roads, airports and inland waterways.
