Zamfara Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed regular and special marshals across the major roads to ensure hitch-free Christmas festivities in the state.

The special patrol also involved stationing of ambulances and other patrol vehicles at the flash points for rescue and emergency circumstances during the period.

The Sector Commander Mr. Iro Danladi, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gusau on Tuesday that during this period, more people always traveled for Christmas and New Year festivities.

Danladi said the measures were taken as the lead agency in road traffic management and administration, saddled with the responsibility of making the roads safe for motoring and public.

The command had deployed all its staff and special marshals to strategic areas to avoid road traffic jams and crashes during and after the end of year’s festivities.

The commander also said ambulances were stationed in Gusau, Tsafe, Talata Mafara, Kaura Namoda and Maru.

Sixteen operational vehicles were provided daily across the 14 local government areas for emergencies.

He said crash prone areas were identified with the personnel being assigned for public enlightenment.

He said with the current urban development in the state capital, the command, however, deployed staff for traffic control and clearance, to avoid obstruction of motorists and other road users.

Danladi reiterate the need for motorists to avoid use of phone while driving, overloading, speeding, wrongful overtaking and other infractions that might cause road traffic crashes.

He appreciated the commitment of both the state and Federal Government for their investment on roads development.
