FG appeals for patience 0ver Benin- Auchi- Okene highway repair

The Federal Government has appealed to Nigerians, particularly motorists plying the Benin-Lokoja Highway to be patient with it as it strives to complete the dualisation of the Benin- Auchi section of the highway.

According to the government, efforts were in top gear to ensure the speedy completion of the project, even though the exercise was hamstrung by paucity of funds.

Speaking during an inspection of the Edo State section of the highway, the Director, Highway South South, Federal Ministry of Works and Housing (FWH), Godwin Eke said government is committed to ensuring early completion of the project, and urged Nigerians to be patient while the dualisation work progresses.

Eke, who was accompanied by the Edo State Controller of Works, Oke Owhe, assured the road project would soon be completed.

Expressing satisfaction with the dualisation, he said efforts would not be spared to ensure that completion deadline was met, even as 50 per cent work on the Edo State axis of the road have been completed.

A resident, Abubakar Sadiq who lauded the Federal Government on the dualisation project, said road crashes recorded on the road during the “Ember months” were drastically reduced due to the dualisation and repair of the existing road.
