The Federal Government has made a grant of N25 million available to five Nigerian academies as a token of appreciation for their contribution to national development.

The Nigerian Academy of Science, Nigerian Academy of Engineering, Nigerian Academy of Letters, Nigerian Academy of Education and the Nigerian Academy of Social Science received N5 million each. Speaking while disbursing the grants to the beneficiaries yesterday, the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, urged the academies to work in synergy and apply their knowledge to solve the numerous challenges facing the nation.

Such challenges like corruption, insecurity and economy, he added, can only be surmounted with the application of knowledge-driven technology.
