FG reports N116b loans, 2m applicants in digital jobs drive

The Federal Government has reported significant progress in youth empowerment, revealing that over N116 billion has been disbursed as education loans and nearly two million Nigerians have applied for digital and technical jobs under the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme.

The announcement was made on Monday by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, at the APC North West Youth Rally in Dutse, Jigawa State, where young people gathered to celebrate two years of progress under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Idris said young Nigerians remain central to the administration’s agenda, with opportunities to lead and make an impact.

“From cabinet appointments to digital innovation and education reforms, young Nigerians are not just part of the story—they are driving it,” he said.

Other achievements highlighted by the Minister include the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) initiative, which has certified one million Nigerians across 25 trades, with a quarter already placed in training centres.

He also noted the Energizing Education Programme by the Rural Electrification Agency, which is providing uninterrupted electricity to universities and teaching hospitals, including Bayero University, Kano, and Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, enhancing learning and research.

Idris spoke on the upcoming Nigeria Tax Act, which will exempt small businesses earning N100 million or less from company income and capital gains taxes, helping young entrepreneurs grow their businesses.

He urged youths to focus on positive actions and nation-building, warning against fake news and divisive rhetoric.
“Let’s use our voices and platforms to build, not to destroy. Tinubu’s leadership is about giving every Nigerian, no matter where they come from, a fair chance to succeed,” he added.

The event was attended by Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa, Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, APC National Youth Leader Dr. Dayo Israel, and other dignitaries from across the Northwest.
