Mr Femi Aluko, a lecturer at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife, Osun State has advised Federal Government to intensify efforts toward capacity building in Science, Technology and Innovation in all educational levels.

Aluko, who is in the Department of Community Health of OAU, gave the advice in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday.

According to him, such efforts will advance awareness about the role of education and research institutions in encouraging science, technology and innovation in the country.

“It will also help to explore some of the challenges that education institutions face in developing countries with regards to their operation as players in the national system of innovation,” he said.

He stressed that the important role of education at all levels in developing entrepreneurial attitudes, skills and behaviours and in building innovation capabilities could not be over emphasised.

Aluko said that proper approach to entrepreneurship education would enable policymakers to formulate, monitor and evaluate national policies to inspire and enable individuals to start growing entrepreneurial ventures.

According to him, entrepreneurship education seeks to provide students with the knowledge, skills and motivation to encourage entrepreneurial success in a variety of settings.

“Variations of entrepreneurship education are offered at all levels of schooling from primary or secondary schools through graduate university programmes,” he added.
