FG spent over N35b on social investment in Taraba, says minister
The National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) spent over N35 billion in Taraba State since its inception in 2016.
Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, disclosed this, yesterday, at a thank-you rally organised by NSIP beneficiaries in the state.
The minister, who spoke through the State Focal Officer, Beatrice Kitchina, said the initiative has curbed youth restiveness, which was prevalent in 2015 but “has gradually subsided to almost zero today.”
She said the initiative, which includes N-Power, Conditional Cash Transfer, Government Enterprise and Empowerment (GEEP) and the Home Grown School Feeding Programme, has impacted positively on the life of Taraba resident, especially those in rural communities.
Some beneficiaries who spoke to The Guardian, appealed to the incoming government at the national level to sustain the programme.
