The Federal Government said it is intensifying efforts to improve digital literacy among youths through initiatives in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Capacity Development, Sadiq Rabiu, made this announcement during the commissioning of a newly renovated computer laboratory at Khalifa Ishaq Rabiu College, part of the Sheikh Muhammadu Rabiu Voluntary Schools Complex, in Gorondutse, Kano State.
The event also marked the graduation of 100 students from the college’s computer training programme. Rabiu said: “Digital literacy is no longer optional; it is foundational, and as we embrace the realities of the digital age, information and communication technology has become integral to our national skillset.
“These competencies are essential not only for workplace readiness but for broader innovation, lifelong learning, and global competitiveness.” He highlighted the current administration’s commitment to equipping young and underserved Nigerians with essential skills for the digital age.
Acknowledging the school’s Coordinator, Malam Rabiu Shamma, he said his contributions have ensured the promotion of inclusive education in the state, describing the new computer lab as a significant investment in technology and knowledge, which aligns with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on human capital development.
He reiterated that the event underscored the Federal Government’s focus on grassroots skills development as a pathway to inclusive economic growth and national resilience.
Responding, Shamma expressed gratitude for the support received from OSAP-CD, noting that the new facility would provide students with a conducive environment for learning and growth.
