The Federal Government has charged the newly decorated Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Olumode Adeyemi, to lead the agency with integrity and innovation towards a world-class fire agency capable of effectively carrying out its constitutional mandate.
Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, gave the charge at the decoration ceremony of the new CG on Thursday in Abuja.
He said that “Nigerians deserve a Fire Service that works, that responds, and that saves lives.
“Any act of negligence, abuse of office, or corruption under your watch will not be tolerated. Lead with results, not rhetoric.
“To whom much is given, much is expected. This is not just an office. It’s a call to service. National safety is not negotiable. The Fire Service must evolve, and that transformation begins with leadership.”
Warning against complacency, Dr. Tunji-Ojo tasked Adeyemi with total commitment to his responsibility as CG of the fire service, noting the importance of instilling discipline and enforcing accountability within the ranks.
On his part, Adeyemi pledged total readiness to serve, insisting that “I will not let Nigerians down because this appointment is a great honour, and I do not take it lightly.
“I pledge my total loyalty and unwavering commitment to justify this confidence through diligent service, integrity, and purposeful leadership.”
