The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Jamal Abdussalam, has said the ongoing operations against crude oil theft in the Niger Delta Region (NDR) are achieving the desired outcome.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by Major General Jamil Sarham (rtd), the CEO of New Guard Security and Consultancy Services (NGSCS) Limited, at the Division’s Headquarters in Port Harcourt Barracks, Maj Gen Abdussalam, said the increase in terminal factor was evidence of the success.

He said the division would continue to build on the momentum, intensifying efforts to combat oil theft and ensure a secure environment for legitimate economic activities in the region.

The GOC, in a statement by the Acting Deputy Director of 6 Division Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, yesterday, stated that the government had given a directive to shore up daily production with a benchmark of two million barrels per day.

The GOC said operations were ongoing within the Division’s Area of Responsibility, with several illegal artisanal refineries destroyed, products confiscated, and several arrests made.

Earlier, the CEO of NGSCS, Major General Jamil Sarham (retd), said they were at the division to solicit support, adding that private security companies serve as force multipliers in operations.
