Chemicals worth millions of naira were destroyed in a fire that broke out yesterday afternoon at the Oshodi office of the National Agency for Food, Drugs Administration And Control (NAFDAC) in Lagos.

About five Lagos State Fire Service Vehicles were sighted battling to put out the fire that engulfed one of the stores within the NAFDAC complex. Officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) were also at the scene to put the situation under control.

According to an eyewitness, a member of staff first noticed smoke at the chemical store at about 2.30 p.m. “However, before we knew it, the fire began to spread. The chemicals, no doubt, gave strength to the fire, which made it spread very fast.”As at press time, no life was lost to the fire, neither was any of the disaster management agency was willing to answer reporter’s query.
