Fire guts Imo Broadcasting Corporation’s facility
Tragedy was averted on Sunday, when, at about 8.30 am, there was a fire outbreak at the Imo Broadcasting Corporation (IBC).
The inferno, which started ride inside the corporation’s Outside Broadcast (OB) van, was, however, contained by the combined efforts of fire fighters from the Imo State Fire Service, who were supported by some officials of the corporation.
Commissioner for Information, Chief Chidi Ibe, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Ogechi Ibeagi, Chairman of the Board of the state-owned radio and television station, Chief Ifeanyi Thomas Olumba, and Director General of the corporation, Mrs. Esther Obong- Egbuna, among others worked with the fire fighters to save the day.
The state-owned electronic media’s security personnel on duty told journalists that the fire incident started on the stationary van about 8.30 am on Sunday morning. An alarm raised by the security personnel drew the attention of fire fighters and senior officials of the corporation.
