Fire razes third market in Katsina
An early morning fire, yesterday, razed several shops and stalls, destroying properties worth several millions of naira at the Funtua Market in Funtua Council of Katsina State.
The incident, said to have started at the second-hand clothes section of the market around 2am, continued unabated into the late hours of the morning.
Though no life was lost, the fire, which destroyed several shops in the section, was said to have been brought under control several house later by the combined efforts of state fire service personnel and sympathisers.
The incident came on the heels of two other market fire incidents in the state within the last 10 days.
Fire razed over 1,000 shops and stalls at the Katsina Central Market on March 22. On March 30, another fire destroyed several shops at the Magama Jibia Market in Jibia Council, with goods worth several millions destroyed in both incidents.
