Federal Fire Service of Nigeria has raised alarm over certain individuals engaging in fraudulent activities by falsely advertising job vacancies within the Service.

The Federal Fire Service’s spokesperson Abraham Paul said this in a statement while reacting to a job advertisement described as fake which informed the public that online application for the 2023 Federal Fire Service recruitment has started.

It stated that the application starts August 1st and will close September 29th.

But according to Paul, the advertisements were not authorised by the Federal Fire Service.

“We hereby categorically state that the Federal Fire Service is presently not recruiting for any position, and any job advertisement claiming otherwise is undoubtedly a scam. Our primary objective as the Federal Fire Service is to ensure the safety of life and property of the Nigerian people,” Paul said.

“We condemn and take firm action against any individual involved in such deceptive practices, as they not only exploit the hopes and aspirations of innocent citizens but also tarnish the reputation of our esteemed organization.

“We hereby issue a strong warning to the general public to stay vigilant and not fall victim to this high level of scam. We implore you not to part with your hard-earned money or other valuable assets in response to such fraudulent job advertisements.”

It stated that the Federal Fire Service does not charge any fees for recruitment processes, and any request for financial contributions in exchange for employment within the organization is illegitimate.

It sympathised with individuals who may have been deceived but assured that they are actively working with relevant authorities to uncover those responsible for the acts and bring them to justice.

The Fire Service emphasised that official job vacancies are exclusively advertised through recognized channels, including official website, reputable national print and electronic media platforms, and authorized recruitment agencies.

Also, it advised aspiring applicants to exercise caution and verify the legitimacy of any advertised position by cross-checking with the Fire Service’s official channels.
