Firm opens application for youths driving low-carbon society

Schneider Electric Nigeria

To mark the 25th anniversary of its Foundation, Schneider Electric, in partnership with Ashoka, has launched a global campaign call for youth applications, titled, ‘Youth Innovation For A Sustainable Future,’ to celebrate and award impactful, innovative youth projects, committed to building a fairer and low-carbon society.

In a statement yesterday, the firm’s Country President, Ajibola Akindele, noted that in recent times where social and environmental challenges are more widespread and urgent than ever, the Foundation supported innovative and forward-looking projects to give as many people as possible the energy they need to succeed.

Akindele said: “The goal of the Foundation is
to play a part in creating a fairer, less carbon-intensive society that gives future generations the tools to transform our world.”

He emphasised that the programme would focus on professional engagement and a fair transition, to select 25 of the most impactful innovative youth projects across all five continents (Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and the Middle East).

Akindele added: “In each continent, the best project will receive the first prize of 30,000 euros, the second 20,000 euros, the third and the fourth 10,000 euros each, and the last spot will receive 5,000 euros. Finally, out of the 25 projects, one will receive a special prize of “Youth Innovation Champion” of 50,000 euros in total during the COP29 climate summit in Bakou, Azerbaïdjan.”
