Firm restates commitment to food safety, unveils equipment for SMEs

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)
SWISS food technologies, process solutions and equipment manufacturer, Buhler, has unveiled its newest optical sorter, SPARK Pro, for improved performance and safety among small and medium scale businesses in the food value chain.
Sales & Marketing Support Manager, Ekaette Umoren, said the new offering would address the many challenges in food processing, including expensive raw materials, squeezing profit margins, unpredictable weather conditions and defects in products.
The product, according to her, offers an easier path to quality yield, healthy revenue and availability of safe food in Nigeria. She observed:
“SPARK Pro offers the much-needed relief to the market. It works with multiple commodities, including grains, pulses, rice, coffee, spices and peanuts, to remove unwanted defects from the product, for example, sticks and stones, helping food processors achieve better yield quality, greater food safety and meeting regulation standards. It also features a non-stop sorting algorithm to provide reliable production that won’t shut down, and a zero-spillage design so that less product is wasted. It also equips the processors with the right technology for food safety and business growth.”
Project leader, Bernhard Gabauer, noted: “SPARK Pro is built for industry purposes. From the camera technology to the saturation value.
It processes quickly, easily and well, helping food processors create good quality yield in a cost-effective way.”
