The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Jigawa State, Mustapha Sule Lamido, has assembled a high-powered campaign council comprising former ministers, a former Inspector-General of Police and other political heavyweights ahead of the 2027 election.

Lamido will chair the campaign council, while Inuwa Muhammad Tahir will serve as deputy chairman.

The council also has Senator Mustapha Khabeeb as Vice Chairman I for Jigawa Central, Ambassador Ibrahim Musa Kazaure as Vice Chairman II for the North-West and Yusuf Saleh Dunari as Vice Chairman III for the North-East.

Former Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba, is among the prominent figures named in the council.

Other notable members include former minister Nuraddeen Mohammed, Babandi Gumel, Aminu Abdullahi Taura, Salisu Mamuda, Mohammed Abdu Mago, Tafida Abubakar, Nasir Umar Roni and several other political stakeholders.

The composition of the council signals the PDP’s effort to deploy experienced political figures and grassroots structures in its bid to wrest control of Jigawa State in the 2027 governorship election.

The party also unveiled a nine-member campaign directorate to drive its day-to-day electioneering operations.

Shehu Liman Wan was appointed Director-General of the campaign, while Nasir Mohammed will serve as secretary.

Nuraddeen Muhammad will head Strategy and Mobilisation, with Abba taking charge of Security.

Aminu Wada Abubakar will oversee Finance, while Umar Kyari will direct Media and Publicity.

Umar H. Birniwa was appointed Director of Planning, Research, Organisation, Documentation and Venues.

Fahad Hashim will coordinate Youth and Support Groups, while Hajiya Murja Aliyu Garki will lead Women Mobilisation.

The campaign structure also includes all members of the PDP State Working Committee.
Lamido, while announcing the appointments, said the structure would coordinate the party’s campaign activities across Jigawa ahead of the 2027 election.

The PDP is expected to use the campaign council to strengthen its grassroots mobilisation and challenge the ruling political structure in the state in the forthcoming poll.
