Firm supports women-led SMEs, start-ups

An outdoor media and advertising agency, Nimbus Media, has solicited support for women-led Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups in the country.

Chief Executive Officer of Nimbus, Wale Adegoke, disclosed this, during the release of the firm’s 2022 Impact Report showcasing significant achievements through its Nimbus Aid Project, a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative in Lagos.

He emphasised the importance of targeting support for SMEs, collaborative selection processes, and leveraging digital platforms to amplify impact.

According to him, since its launch in 2016, Nimbus Aid Project has provided marketing support and market penetration access to 13 organisations, 11 of which are women-led.

He said: “In 2022, the initiative awarded N20 million worth of advertising support to 10 women-led SMEs and startups in Nigeria…”

“Through these efforts, over 2.8 million unique advert views have been delivered to beneficiaries across high-traffic locations in Lagos, the economic hub of West Africa.”

Expressing the vision behind the Nimbus Aid Project, Adegoke, said: “At Nimbus Media Ltd, we believe businesses have a profound responsibility to contribute positively to society.

“The Nimbus Aid Project embodies our commitment to giving back and making a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most. Through this initiative, we have set out to empower and uplift communities in Nigeria by providing valuable support to organisations that are empowering communities and creating economic opportunities.”

He added: “ The impact of the Nimbus Aid Project goes beyond marketing support. The project has contributed to community development, improved access to essential services, and economic resilience by focusing on organisations that educate, enable, and empower communities.

“Moreover, the strategic emphasis on women-led businesses has helped break down barriers and promote gender equality in entrepreneurship, inspiring more women to take on leadership roles and drive economic growth.”

One of the beneficiaries and Managing Partner at HeadFort Foundation, Oluyemi Orija, lauded the project as a game-changer for businesses.

“The Nimbus Aid project is a great opportunity to create huge awareness for businesses, as winning the grant can change the trajectory of one’s business and strategically help reach new communities.” he said

According to him, “the Nimbus Aid Project aims to expand its support for SMEs and non-profit organisations through collaborations with like-minded partners, media, and public-sector entities.

“By providing substantial advertising support and empowering more businesses, the initiative seeks to foster economic growth, empower entrepreneurs, and contribute to the overall development of Nigeria,” he added.
