Firms develop PHC service platform

ORODATA Science, in collaboration with Africa Data Hub, has developed a digital platform to empower citizens and stakeholders with baseline data and resources necessary to understand the true status of Primary Health Centres (PHCs) across the federation.

The platform is also intended to reduce the barriers African journalists face in their storytelling and aid access to credible data that translates to real life situations around health and its development in Nigeria,

The web-based toolkit platform, called ‘CheckMyPHC’, was developed and launched as part of a larger project, which included a data collection programme as well as a frontline investigative programme to expose the true conditions of each PHC and enable a more informed decision towards improving the healthcare status of the grassroots, especially in hard to reach areas and underserved parts of the country.

Country Operations Lead, John Eromosele, explained that the maiden version of checkmyphc tool holds data and insights of the actual condition of over 345 PHCs from six states in the six geo-political zones of Nigeria, including Sokoto, Taraba, Benue, CrossRiver, Anambra and Osun areas.

Research and Analytics Team Lead, Hannah Naiyeju, during the launch illustrated how users could explore the status of primary health centres by state and local governments across Nigeria, download the already collected data, and even request more.
