Genesis Energy Holding and Desert Technologies Industries Factory CJSC (D-T) have formalised a strategic collaboration to accelerate clean energy deployment across Africa, reinforcing a shared commitment to bridging the continent’s energy access gap through scalable solar infrastructure and financing models.
The agreement was signed during the 27th Africa Energy Forum (AEF 2025), the continent’s leading platform for investment in energy, and builds on a Memorandum of Understanding earlier signed in Dubai by GENESIS Chairman, Akinwole II Omoboriowo, and Desert Technologies’ Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Khaled Sharbatly.
Under the new arrangement, GENESIS’s solar and storage products subsidiary becomes D-T’s preferred partner for the African market, tasked with distributing and implementing high-efficiency Solar PV and Battery Storage Systems with a focus on mini-grid and utility-scale projects.
Speaking on the significance of the partnership, the Chairman of GENESIS Energy Holding said that the collaboration with Desert Technologies marks a significant step in the sustained upward trajectory of the mission to expand access to clean, reliable power across Africa.
“By leveraging D-T’s innovative solar products and their extensive experience in developing, financing and deploying sustainable energy infrastructure, we are not just providing power; we are empowering communities, fostering economic growth, and accelerating the continent’s transition towards a cleaner, more resilient energy landscape. This partnership is a testament to our unwavering commitment to closing Africa’s energy gap and delivering impactful change,” he said.
GENESIS has over 4.5gw in its project pipeline and 458mw of generation capacity either operational or under development across multiple African markets.
On the Saudi side, Desert Technologies brings to the table its Sahara solution, a compact, containerised, rapidly deployable solar power system aimed at off-grid and rural communities. The solution is part of D-T’s strategy to drive electrification in underserved regions.
