Five die in Ogun auto crash


Five people were killed on Friday night, in a fatal auto crash, around Odeda, along the Abeokuta-Ibadan Road, Ogun State.
The crash, which occurred at about 9:20pm, involved two vehicles: a Mazda Bus with Registration Number MUS 367 XU, conveying passengers and an IVECO Truck with no registration number.
According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Command, 19 persons, 14 male and five female, were involved in the crash.
The FRSC Sector Commander, Clement Oladele, said: “A total of 14 people were injured. Five died. The suspected cause of the fatal crash was dangerous driving. The truck crushed the passengers. They were trapped inside.

“The injured victims were taken to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, while the bodies were deposited at the General Hospital Ijaye’s Morgue. The obstruction was thereafter cleared to prevent further crashes.”
The Sector Commander commiserated with families of the victims and cautioned drivers to resist driving dangerously to avoid unnecessary road crashes.
He advised passengers and anyone that notices dangerous driving to contact FRSC through the toll-free number 122.
