Five rescued off Bahamas after plane goes down
Search teams rescued five people floating on a life raft after their single engine aircraft went down off the Bahamas, the US Coast Guard said Tuesday.
The five were spotted Monday evening by the crew of a Coast Guard MH-60 helicopter nine nautical miles (16.7 kilometers) southeast of Nassau, nearly three hours after their Cessna aircraft was reported missing by Bahamanian air traffic controllers.
“The Royal Bahamian Defence Force arrived on scene, safely embarked the five people and transported them back to the Bahamas.
“There are no reported injuries,” the Coast Guard said in a statement.
