FMC Jabi engages best brains to handle complex medical, surgical interventions, says MD

The Federal Medical Centre, Jabi, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has said that numerous complex medical and surgical interventions such as the laser surgeries, open heart surgeries, spine and orthopaedic surgeries, complex neurosurgical interventions and diagnostic endoscopies are currently being carried out in the centre.

According to the hospital, laparoscopic surgeries, hi-tech ophthalmic services, composite laboratory and radiologic support, comprehensive medical, antenatal and pediatric services, and intensive care services among others are also available in the facility.

Medical Director of the Center, Prof. Saad Ahmed, who disclosed this at the commissioning of the ultra-modern administrative complex of the center yesterday in Abuja, observed that the medical center has recruited some best brains in this country who are providing service in this facility.

Ahmed noted that the vision of the center is to be a world-class hospital for rendering quality healthcare through teamwork; and leverage on cutting-edge technology to enhance research, training and innovation in healthcare provision.

He observed that the hospital will continue to deliver the highest quality patient care with a strong commitment to clinical excellence and patient satisfaction.

The MD stated that the center is having space constraints which limit expansion of services adding that with provision of additional land space, the facility can work towards other service provisions like Expansion of emergency units, trauma centers, radiotherapy, nuclear medicine services and other high-end medical care. We equally require some needed medical and support equipment necessary to improve patient care.

While commissioning the four-story building, Minister of State for Health, Barr. Joseph Ekumankama, said that the Federal Medical Centre, Abuja emerged as the best public-owned hospital in the Commonwealth Nations and the Medical Director, Prof Saad Ahmed emerged as Health Advocate of the Year.

He expressed hopes that the huge investment made in the building will further spur the hardworking and dedicated staff to do more for Nigerians and implored the hospital management to ensure adequate maintenance of the edifice for its longevity and use by future generations.
