Former Governor of Bayelsa, Chief Diepreye Solomon Alamieyeseigha, is dead.

Alamieyeseigha, 63, was said to have died at University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital where we was receiving medical attention.

His demise has been confirmed by the Chief Press Secretary to Bayelsa Governor, Daniel Iworiso-Markson.

Diepreye Alamieyeseigha was born in 16 November 1952 in Amassoma, Ogboin North Local Government Area, Bayelsa State. He attended the Bishop Dimeari Grammar School, Yenagoa. He joined the Nigerian Defence Academy as a Cadet Officer in 1974, then joined the Nigerian Air Force, where he served in the department of Logistics and Supply. He held various air force positions in Enugu, Markurdi, Kaduna and Ikeja. Alamieyeseigha retired from the air force in 1992 as a Squadron Leader.

After leaving the air force he became the Sole Administrator of Pabod Supplies Port Harcourt. Later he became Head of Budget, Planning, Research and Development of the National Fertiliser Company (NAFCON).

Diepreye Alamieyeseigha was elected Governor of Bayelsa State in May 1999 as a member of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He was re-elected in 2003.

He was impeached as Bayelsa State governor on allegations of corruption on 9 December 2005.

    The evil that men do, live with them. Venturing into politics was your greatest undoing. Otherwise, you had a wonderful career. Death is awaiting more PDP thieves.

      Guess you aren’t privy to his NAF career. Really don’t know what happened to him because he used to be a very disciplined man with a high sense of morality. All men shall die either good or bad.
