The Chairman of planning committee of Otolokpo Community, in Ika North Local Council of Delta State, Jude Osafiele, has decried the dwindling cultural value in Nigeria over the years.

Disclosing this to journalists at Otolokpo, yesterday, Osafiele said that the community is organising the maiden cultural carnival to educate the people on the importance of culture, and the need to restore it for generations to come.

He stated that the carnival was meant to showcase the core values of the people, which are being packaged with a blend of glamour and fanfare.

The carnival, anchored by Otolokpo Development Union (ODU), will be kicked off by its President General, David Igbodo, on December 28, 2023, with a Church service at St. Dominic Catholic Church, Otolokpo, from 7 a.m. It will be followed by a deluge of events, including stakeholders’ visitation to the Palace of the Obi of Otoloko Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Agbogidi Collins Anioma Ezenwali, a special conference, medical outreach and football match (third place).

He noted that on December 29, 2023, there will be a special breakfast, social visitation/road walk from Otolokpo stop point to General Hospital, Umunede, and back to Otolokpo. He added that at noon, vehicles will be available to move participants and fans from various villages with band displays amid a flurry of food and drinks.
