will be a key participant at the upcoming Africa Primary Healthcare Forum, where it will share innovative strategies for strengthening primary healthcare systems across the continent.

Organised by the West African Institute of Public Health Africa Primary Healthcare Forum, the forum is scheduled to take place on July 14 and 15, 2025, in Abuja. It will bring together health leaders and experts to address pressing challenges in Africa’s primary healthcare delivery.

As a faculty partner, the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation will lead a plenary session titled “Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs): Leveraging Resources for Sustainable Health Systems.” The session will explore how collaboration between the public and private sectors can improve access to essential health services, especially for underserved communities.

Drawing from its experience in the Adopt-A-Healthcare Facility Programme (ADHFP)—an initiative in partnership with the Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria (PSHAN)—the Foundation will highlight real-world impacts. So far, ₦3 billion has been committed to upgrading 23 healthcare centres across Nigeria, with four already revitalised and showing significant results.

In just eight months, immunisation rates at these centres have surged from 35 to 687—an increase of over 1,700%. More than 500 children under five have been treated for malaria, and antenatal visits have grown by 1,200%, ensuring greater maternal care. Notably, there have been zero reported maternal or child deaths at the revitalised facilities.
Executive Vice-Chair of the Foundation, Ofovwe Aig-Imoukhuede, underscored the role of innovative financing and cross-sector collaboration in addressing Africa’s healthcare challenges.

“We’ve witnessed how well-structured public-private partnerships can create substantial improvements when designed with clear objectives and in alignment with government initiatives,” she said.

The Foundation’s participation is expected to contribute to the forum’s broader goal of reshaping primary healthcare policy and delivery across the region.
