
About four police officers escaped death in a road crash involving the convoy of the Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun.
The Guardian gathered that the speaker was traveling to Inisa, Odo-Otin Local Council of Osogbo, the state capital, while his convoy was rushing to meet up with an event.
On their way, one of the convoy’s vehicles carrying police officers was involved in the accident.
Reacting, the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Tiamiyu Olamide, in a statement, confirmed the accident, noting that Egbedun and members of his entourage are hale and hearty.
“Mr. Speaker’s backup vehicle, carrying some of his security aides, had a mechanical problem that resulted in the crash of the vehicle.
“Although the Speaker was not involved in the crash, the aides who were involved are also hale and hearty, having undergone thorough medical checks.
“Mr. Speaker thanks concerned individuals who reached out to him and assures that he, alongside all of his aides, are safe and have since resumed work.”
“Hon. Adewale remains committed to the meritorious discharge of his duties as Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly and assures that he will continue to steer the 8th Assembly in the direction of landmark achievements that will make it a positive reference point in the history of our dear state”, the statement added.
