The Chartered Institute of Forensics and Certified Fraud Investigators of Nigeria (CIFCFIN) has sought collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) and Financial Technology (Fintech) companies to contain corruption and financial crimes in the country.

This was disclosed by the institute’s Registrar/Chief Executive, Dr Isa Salifu, against the backdrop of this year’s International Fraud Awareness Week in Abuja.

He said the collaboration would facilitate the implementation of robust fraud-prevention mechanisms and frameworks in combating graft-related issues within the financial sector, adding: “We also urge stakeholders to invest in forensic training and technologies to stay ahead of evolving fraud tactics.”

According to him, technology is more than a tool, stating: “It is the cornerstone of a resilient financial system. Let us leverage its potential to combat fraud, protect financial systems, and build trust in a digital future.”

The Institute will continue to extend a hand of fellowship to financial organisations, while championing innovative fraud prevention strategies, empowering professionals and institutions to safeguard Nigeria’s financial systems.”
The International Fraud Awareness Week, which began in 2000, was initiated by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners in the United States and is dedicated to raising global consciousness about fraud and its crippling effects on economies and institutions. The essence is for fraud fighters across the world to rededicate themselves every November to the mission of eliminating fraud in all its facets.
