Fresh twist, as Edo central APC demands guber slot
The race for Edo State governorship took another dimension yesterday, as leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Edo Central Senatorial district, insisted that it is the turn of the district to produce Oshiomhole’s successor in the September 10th 2016 governorship elections. The group, which alleged undue marginalisation by the current administration, also warned that anything short of the governorship would be met with dire political consequences.
The group, Esan Leaders of Thought (ELT), stated this in a meeting with some journalists in Benin City, adding that their demand is very necessary owing to what they described as the “glaring marginalisation of the Esan people under the present dispensation in the state.
Leader of the group, Chief Francis Inegbiniki, maintained that the three senatorial districts in Edo State should be treated as equal partners on all issues of political and economic rights and privileges.
“It is the turn of Edo Central Senatorial district to produce the next governor of the state as it is the zone that has never produced a governor since the creation of Edo State, Edo South, having produced two governors in the persons of chief John Odigie-Oyegun and Chief Lucky Nosakhare Igbinedion and Edo North, producing the current Governor Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, who is on the verge of completing his two tenure of eight years”.
