Gun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has advised motorists and members of the public to report bribe related misdemeanor against its officers to appropriate quarters for immediate prosecution.

The State Sector Commander, Clement Oladele, who disclosed this at the weekend in reaction to last Wednesday’s protest by some commercial vehicle operators on alleged extortion by some security agencies around Ilaro area of the state, appealed for cooperation from motoring public in ensuring that officials do not collect bribes while on patrol.

“Instead, such motorists are admonished to use the bribe for traffic infractions to repair their mechanically deficient vehicles, as well as comply with traffic regulations, to prevent room for offering or receiving of bribes,” he said.

He said rather than resort to self-help by obstructing traffic, aggrieved persons should report to the appropriate security agencies’ leadership, which have mechanism to resolve grievances.

“Such people are also warned to avoid obstructing any legitimate measure undertaken for apprehending suspected offenders and any collaborator from evading arrest or prosecution for offences related to bribe during patrol operations.”
