The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has charged his supporters to uphold peace and eschew violence.
Fubara made this charge at the inauguration of a newly constructed palace for the monarch of Akpo Kingdom, a community situated in the Obiapo Local Government Area of the state.
While addressing the audience during the inauguration, the governor described Obiapo as the biggest local government in the state and the strongest political hold of his administration.
“To our supporters, I want to assure you of one important fact of life. God doesn’t start and end halfway. It does not matter what the situation might be today. I assure you that we will come up stronger and better.

“Continue to follow my footsteps, and that footstep remains peace. We need it because if anything happens, we are the greatest losers. Our concern for this state is not because of our own profit but the total well-being of Rivers State,” said Fubara.
He added that his administration will not encourage any act of disobedience or violence and will not support evil or whatever supports evil.
“Anytime we see the strength and vigor in your faces, in the camp of our enemy, they jitter, and fear grips them,” he added.
The political tension in Rivers has heightened in recent times following the judgment of the Supreme Court on the Martins Amaewhule-led Rivers State House of Assembly.
The Rivers faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ordered him to resign on Monday.
