Fulani crisis: Kebbi creates settlements for victims in Bambala

Following the recent clash between Fulani’s herdsmen and farmers in Bakoshi village in Suru Council, the Kebbi State Government has created a permanent settlement for the affected Fulanis as a lasting solution to the crisis.

Briefing newsmen yesterday shortly after an oversight visit to the new settlement by some selected journalist, Chairman of the State Emergency Management Agency, Alhaji Sani Dodo, said the government has provided the necessary basic amenity for them and their animals in the area, including land, water, toilets, food items, clothes, as well as the construction of new houses for them.

He explained that the crisis started as a result of the discovery of the body of one Sheahu Nayali Bakoshi in a farm near the Fulani village of Bambala.

Dodo said after the medical and Police reports, the government discovered that the late Sheahu was not killed by anybody, but died of natural cause.

In their responses at the new and old villages, the village head of Bambala, Mallam Usman Jogi, expressed happiness over the state government’s action, adding: “We are not going to revenge; we leave everything in the hands of God.

“We lost many properties. We are not the one that killed the man; he went to the farm and dead on his own.”

Also speaking, one of the victims, Garba Laye, lamented his loss, which he put at N1million.

About three weeks ago, crisis erupted in Bakoshi over the death of Sheahu, whose body was discovered in his farm, leading to the destruction of lives and properties.
