FUOYE inaugurates laboratory, engineering library

In its quest for academic excellence, the Federal University Oye-Ekiti has inaugurated its Metrology Laboratory and the Faculty of Engineering Library.

Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Isaac Asuzu who inaugurated the two buildings, said it was in fulfilment of promises made by Engineer Otis Anyaeji and Lanre Adesuyi during an infrastructure development drive and fund-raising dinner held at Abuja on October 23, 2013.

Asuzu revealed that at that occasion, Otis Anyaeji made initial pledge of N4,188,971 for the completion of the University’s Metrology laboratory which was redeemed within 24 hours. He later made a further donation of N655,000 for the laboratory furniture.

Applauding their efforts, the vice chancellor said what is striking about their donations was that they came at a most appropriate period.

“They gave us the much needed hope and energy to pursue the establishment of the Faculty of Engineering,” he said.

The Metrology Laboratory was named in honour of Anyaeji while, the Faculty of Engineering library was named in honour of Adesuyi.

He announced to the delight of the eminent personalities present that all the seven programmes of the Faculty of Engineering were pre-accredited by the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN)in July 2014
