Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has returned to Nigeria, ahead of major political realignments in Kano.
Ganduje, who arrived from London yesterday, where he attended the graduation ceremony of his daughter, Fatima, at King’s College, is expected to lead a mass defection of Kwankwasiyya loyalists to the APC.
After months of speculation, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf would consolidate his political alignment with the ruling APC after quitting his membership with the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
He would officially flag the APC broom symbol today at Government House, and subsequently inaugurate APC e-registration at the Coronation Hall, within the seat of power.
In a statement by the Chief of Staff to the former APC National Chairman, Garba Muhammad, Ganduje arrived in Abuja aboard a British Airways flight at about 5:30 a.m. yesterday.
In the meantime, the ex-governor has fired back at an NNPP chieftain, Buba Galadima, for accusing him of disrespecting the late President Muhammadu Buhari when he was at the helm.
Ganduje, who spoke through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Enlightenment, Oliver Okpala, described Galadima as a “television politician” with no political base and followership.
He described Galadima’s recent comments as baseless, mischievous and aimed at drawing media attention rather than contributing meaningfully to national discourse.
In a statement yesterday in Abuja, Ganduje urged Galadima to return to his home state of Yobe and focus on economic and political development instead of “using television stations as his political constituency.”
The former APC helmsman stressed that he is known for political decorum, discipline, and respect for leaders, both past and present, insisting that he would not resort to abusive or disparaging language, as claimed.
He accused Galadima of consistently peddling negative narratives and showing disrespect to national leaders, adding that such conduct has eroded his credibility over the years.
