Thousands of supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Gombe State, Alhaji Isyaku Jamilu, have decamped to the ).

The politicians numbering about 35,000 across the state refused to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) with Jamilu penultimate week.
 
The politicians disclosed that their interests would not in any way be served and protected by APC.
They were, however, received by the NNPP Governorship candidate, Khamisu Mailantarki yesterday.
The new NNPP members were formally welcomed into the NNPP by the state Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Maikano.
 
The defectors under the banner: “Sardauna Dawo-Dawo,” Immediately embraced another name: “Mailantarki Movement” after the defection saying, they decided to back the NNPP candidate, who “is young, diverse, competent, energetic, and kind-hearted.”

The chairman of the group, Muhammad Makson added that Mailantarki is tested with the character to deal decisively with current issues and challenges in the state.

He said: “Pulling out our support for the PDP was a collective decision. We all decided to quit and join the NNPP so that we can have better leadership in Gombe State.
 
“We believe Mailantarki has the good character and capacity to rescue Gombe State from the misrule of the APC. He has always been saying the right things and has done the right things in the past,” he added.
 
He informed that the group has about 2,000 executive members and over 20,000 volunteers across the 114 wards in Gombe State.
Receiving the defectors, Mailantarki assured them that they would be carried along in all the activities of the party, especially now that the campaigns had commenced.
 
He urged them to garner more support and promote the party and its candidates in the state adding that it is only through grassroots mobilization the NNPP can uproot and defeat the failed ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
 
He promised to run an all-inclusive government if elected governor.
