Gombe trains 100 youths, women on children complementary food
Gombe State Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation has commenced the training of 100 youths and women in the production of Children Complementary Food (CCF)
Aside the training, the ministry also engaged stakeholders on the need to use locally available food commodities to improve the nutrition of children.
The stakeholders at the forum included the governor’s wife, Asima’u Yahaya; female commissioners, female appointees and female councilors among others.
The Commissioner in the ministry, Dr. Aishatu Meigeri, said that the beneficiaries of the one-week training at the Amina Muhammed Skills Acquisition Centre are expected to engage in the commercial production and sales of children supplementary food after the training.
She also said that to equip the trainees adequately for life after the training, the beneficiaries would be given starter packs for self-reliance and independence.
She charged the trainees to make meaningful use of the huge opportunity and maximise the government’s gesture. She disclosed that the state government last year through her ministry trained and empowered over 300 women and youths on the production of the CCF.
