The structure of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP received the finally blows that crumbled it in Akoko North East Local Government,ANELG on Saturday as one the party’s most dependable leader, Honourable Oluwole Arowolo defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Arowolo a staunch PDP Leader, Babalaje of Ikareland and former LG. Council Chairman was officially welcomed to APC by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, his deputy, Dr.Olayide Adelami and the State APC Chairman, Engr.Ade Adetimehin during the ANELG Guber Rally held at Ikare-Akoko.
However, the dust raised by the news Arowolo’s defection is yet to settle as it’s reverberation is causing serious ripples as uncertainty continues to envelope the bleak future of PDP across the entire Akokoland.
Some Political Analysts have described Arowolo’s defection as a good omen for Aiyedatiwa and APC and is a collateral damage and last straw that will break the PDP Caramel’s back.
With the latest development most especially the defection of Arowolo, one of PDP most credible leader to APC is an obvious reason why those Analysts predicted doom fo PDP across the entire Ondo North before the election.
Meanwhile, the Public declaration of Arowolo’s defection was just a formality as Arowolo has earlier been formally introduced to Gov.Aiyedatiwa by Ondo North Elders during the Presentation of “Ondo North NEEDS Assessment Report of the Community Engagement Exercise” on September,30th,2024.
While presenting Arowolo to the Aiyedatiwa,the Ondo North Leaders proudly flaunts some of the great attributes of Arowolo acknowledging him, saying,he’s one of most credible and reliable PDP Leader in Akoko.
Arowolo was specially welcomed to the APC Party by Aiyedatiwa at the Governor’s Office, Alagbaka, Akure when Arowolo accompanied the APC Leaders from Ondo North exclusively consisting of the Advisory Council Members to the event.
Aiyedatiwa before the Ondo North leaders singled out the news of Arowolo intending defection from others as he excitedly expressed his joy and eulogizing him for being a reputable as a grassroots mobilizer.
The Governor said: “I am truly humbled by this incredible show of support from the great Ikare revered Leader, Arowolo who has promised to join hands with me to build Ondo State”.
“Your commitment is highly appreciated for sharing the vision for a better Ondo State with me and this thought fills me with immense pride.
Aiyedatiwa said, Ikare-Akoko has always been a beacon of progress, and the loyalty of the people is a reassurance that our efforts are being recognised and valued.”
The Governor outlined some of his administration’s accomplishments, such as improvements in infrastructure, agriculture and education.
“We have achieved so much together, from upgrading our roads to enhancing agriculture and investing in our schools, but our work is far from over. With your continued support on November 16, we can deliver even more transformation and development”, the Governor said.
He equally reassured Arowolo that if elected, his administration will redouble efforts to prioritize the welfare of every Ondo State citizens.
