Kano State governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Sunday, paid a visit to his late father’s grave at Dandolo Cemetery to offer special prayers on his 62nd birthday.

The governor dedicated quality time during his visit to pray for the repose of the soul of his late father, Alh. Kabiru Yusuf.

A statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawaki Tofa, said the governor’s visit was part of his implicit style to mark his anniversary.

The statement read, “The visit was a heartfelt moment for the governor as he paid tribute to the man who shaped his values and inspired his journey into public service.”

The late Kabiru Yusuf was a prominent member of the regional parliament in Kaduna and a seasoned administrator known for his integrity and dedication to his people.

Reflecting on his father’s legacy, Governor Yusuf said, “My father’s life was a testament to leadership rooted in service, humility, and unwavering commitment to justice. His memory continues to guide me in all I do.”

The governor also took a moment to honor his mother, Malama Khadijatul-Naja’atu, a schoolteacher and a revered female Islamic scholar.

“My mother taught me the importance of education, faith, and compassion, values that have remained with me throughout my life,” he said.

Accompanied by family members, aides, and a few close associates, Governor Yusuf recited prayers at the gravesite, asking Allah (SWT) to grant his parents Jannatul Firdaus.

Speaking about the significance of the visit, the governor remarked, “Celebrating my birthday at my father’s grave is a reminder of where I come from and the values that define me.

“It is also a moment to renew my commitment to serving the people of Kano with the same dedication my father had for his community,” Gov. Yusuf said.
