Government raises panel on implementation of defence policy
The Federal Government has inaugurated a steering committee on the implementation of the 2017 Nigerian National Defence Policy.
The Minister of Defence, Brig.-Gen. Mansur Muhammad Dan Ali, noted yesterday in Abuja that the prevailing security challenges necessitated the review of the document by President Muhammadu Buhari last year.
He said the exercise was carried out to enable the nation have a comprehensive defence policy that adequately addresses terrorism, kidnapping and other criminal activities.
The minister stated that the implementation requires competent hands and professionals to drive the strategic process of delivering on the mission.
Dan Ali advised the committee to evolve strategies for the effective implementation of the document.
