Former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (rtd), has called for prayers to enable Nigeria overcome the myriad of challenges bedeviling it.

Gowon made the call during a one-day national prayer rally in the South-West Zone held at Men of Issacher Vision Ministries in Ibadan.

The programme was organised by Nigeria Prays, a group championed by the former military leader. The former leader, who spoke virtually, said: ‘’Our prayers are not in vain. Prayers have more potency than guns and generals.

‘’Let us look at the myriad of problems and challenges in the country and pray on them. Help us, Lord, to find solutions to our problems.”

SIMILARLY, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, who was represented by his Executive Assistant on Administration, Rev. Idowu Ogedengbe, urged Christians to pray for the emergence of faithful, patriotic and able men who have learnt the art of good governance and nation-building in 2023.

Makinde said: “No doubt, we are at a defining moment in the history of Nigeria. Soon, the campaign season will commence in the run-up to the 2023 elections. This auspicious event of the Nigeria Prays rally is therefore coming as a timely intervention.

‘’Let’s ask God for men and women, who will naturally care for the masses; men that love the truth and hate covetousness to be the ones saddled with the responsibility of steering the wheel of governance in Nigeria as we elect our leaders come 2023.”

National Director of Nigeria Prays, Dr. Moses Aransiola, said the situation of the country is critical and the church must resist any power that wants to wage war against it. Aransiola, therefore, charged Christians not to sleep.
