The Abia State Chapter of Progressive Ambassadors of Nigeria (PAN) has said that re-impacting development in Abia shall commence with the restoration of confidence and public trust in governance, revival and stabilisation of the economy, including careful clean-up of the system that is riddled with corruption.
PAN, in a statement, yesterday, titled, ‘State of Affairs In Abia State Ahead of The Forthcoming 2023 Governorship Election,’ urged the electorate to scrutinise the guber candidates and elect the most suitable, based on his or her antecedents, and whose programmes include solution to unemployment, people’s welfare, reduction of deaths as a result of hunger, unpaid salary arrears, restoration of security, among others.
Recall that another group, Abia Good Governance Forum, led by Ambassador Harrison Chigozie, had, in a recent press statement, urged that a capable governor be elected to run the state independent of federal allocations.
PAN, in the statement, signed by its Abia Coordinator, Amarachukwu Kalu, stated that it was committed to providing political and democratic advisory services from the electoral process through the governance structure. It noted that the state is confronted with many challenges ranging from economic, social, political, infrastructural and even spiritual, stressing that to address them, a leader that can take decisive actions devoid of sentiments is required.
